what´s love got to do...

tina turner on the raido at the internet cafe.
trip so far has been a flurry of conversations, packing and unpacking. meeting and wandering.

july 19
off work at 3am - airport by 4am thanks to tyler for the ride. flight out at 6am to houston, 4 hour layover in houston and in lima by 1030 (can´t find the colon key).

it was pretty surreal to see both cole and mat again. i met cole and mat in tulum about 6 months ago and spent about a week with them so to be back traveling with them is pretty amazing. besides, they are two of the most genuine life loving indviduals i have ever met.

july 20
up early for yoga, home to pack, back to airport for a short flight into cusco. due to a strike in the surrounding villages our rafting trip was cancelled. we could raft down the river but the possibility of getting rocks or fruit thrown at us is quite high and getting back in to cusco is impossible. the local farmers and other people block the roads, put boulders on the train tracks and such so tourists can´t get in. the government has really screwed these people out of a decent way of living. this meant that we didn´t have to get to bed early and had the night to do with as we pleased. this included our rafting guide bringing over two bottles of vodka and card games until the liquor was gone. then it was off to the club which was in itself an event only to be described in photos - those will come eventually.

cusco is beautiful. spanish churches built on foundations of ancient temples. plazas, mountain sides, llamas and splashes of color everywhere.

july 21
today. up early-ish. breakfast. and now here i sit. hiking later and orientation for some sweet mountain biking that we will be doing tomorrow.

i can´t wait to post some photos. hopefully i can find an internet cafe that will accomodate uploading my photos.

peru so far is amazing. i still have all my limbs mama!!! i´m anxious to get out of the touristy places.

onward...

had breakfast with jainee and ryan this morning after a very short night of non-sleep. spent 3 hours packing. i've never spent that long packing...ever. after getting off work late and having a fancy drink (jameson), packing and a little bit of yoga i finally made my way in to bed around 5am. the birds were singing, by which i mean the crows were cawing, and the sun was just beginning to turn the sky a nice prussian blue.

harvest, this is for you.

3 weeks, one bag. the weather in peru is kooky. around 65-70 degrees F during the day and in the 30's at night. this calls for a little extra clothing and added bulk with a jacket. wish i could bring my guitar :( hopefully mat will bring one.

will you see me...

am i the only one who steered away from this look in the 90's as well as now? i'm yearning to find the awe in this look but just can't seem to dig it up. maybe it's the belly shirt with the oversized sleeves. i've never been into belly shirts. okay, we're not all 6 feet tall with willow branches for limbs, so why would one want to cut the perceived length of one's body off right in the middle?

am i also the only person who, whilst looking at upcoming fall lookbooks am sadly disappointed at the lack of creativity with garments? everything from everyone looks the same!!! or maybe i've just drank too much coffee and keep looking at the same shit.

shouldn't have left you...

adventures in...

guess who's going back to sweden? nope...not me (insert slight scowl here) :( BUT the hims is going. yay! he'll be traveling to stockholm, gothenburg and lulea, which currently experiences about 22 hours of sunlight a day right now!!! i hope he bring me back something awesome.

lulea

i, however, am preparing to depart on a trip of my own. peru and equador is what i've got in mind. i am so excited to be going to a non-european country, packing only two pairs of shoes along with whatever i can carry on my back. don't get me wrong i love carrying a heavy as fuck suitcase with 5 pairs of shoes for a 3 day trip to new york, but i'm pretty stoked to wear the same two t-shirts for 3 weeks hiking, rafting, yoging, surfing, biking etc...surrounded by colors, textures, sights and sounds that i just don't get to experience on a daily basis here.

pendelton turn 100, and to celebrate they've teamed up with Opening Ceremony (!!!!) for a collaborative project. pendelton patterns paired with Opening Ceremony's cuts? what more could a girl, or boy, ask for? oh i know, a Rick Owens leather jacket to accompany.

girls who are boys who are girls...

it seems like givency is crossing into that gray area between men's and women's clothing. i love when designers explore trends picked up by the opposite sex.
