we'll fill the air with imagery that lasts forever...

jessica gifted me this great dress of hers and i spent a good while yesterday playing around with how i might wear it. i ended up wearing the top over a black slip that i cut off to about mid thigh with black tights, ankle boots, and a drapey black cardigan thing from f21.

any suggestions on ideas for the dress?

dress paired with vintage secretary blouse.

over the top.

worn as a skirt. i didn't like the length when worn as a skirt.

underneath.

all worn with black tights from target and ankle boots from f21 (impossibly uncomfortable but super sexified).

yesterday was my birthday. more posts about that later.

the kettle's on, the sun has gone, another day...

imagine coming home to this. what a cute cupcake he is. his nice shoes and my shitty ones.

the following photos are of how my first day of the new year began.

maker's at noon.

followed.

docs, levis, target shirt, thrifted shirt, aa hodie, thrifted jean jacket, found fur vest, found sunglasses, maker's mark.

living my life on borrowed time...

christmas present from my sweet.

hard at work.

i didn't like any of the outfit photos we took so i took one of him instead.

baby it's cold outside...

spiewak jacket

urban outfitter vest, black slip thing, aa skirt, woolford tights, diy knee high leg warmers, you by croc boots

brian lichtenberg's s/s09 line reminds me of the stark whites and blacks, along with the hardness of garreth pugh combined with the geometry and coolness of balmain.

and then it struck me that nobody, not even a supermodel should wear shoes with ankle straps. daddy likey did a post on such atrocities this past week and does a damn fine job explaining why and how, if you absolutely must, to wear this abomination of a shoe.

what, if any of these should santa bring me?

cooperate in the making of reason...

the title of this entry is also the title of my friend elise's blog, which consists of some truly inspirational images relating to culture, fashion, art and life in general. she is amazing, creative and the hatcher of master projects. i can't believe she is my friend and business partner.

in other events...elise and i coordinated and hosted the leftbank holiday party this past weekend. unfortunately there are no photos from the event but this is what i wore.

thrifted dress, aa racerback tank, target tights, joey heels

after reading kristin's post over at bleach black i was reminded of bygone tees. yes i have attempted something of the sort to many a tee without a happy success. the look i want is only achievable with tees that have spent an overworn life on the body, floor, river, road and back of a truck.

what i wore today running around getting free strawberry ice cream, eating sushi and buying gold paper.

gray j brand jeans, white hanes tee, thrifted navy vest from jessica, green converse

it's got nothing to do with what i had to drink...

just another shirt i've co-opted from the boyfriend. i think i might find a new home in it.

patch detail

there is a pretty rad article in ART NEWS this month about avant garde designers, namely margiella. i haven't read the article yet but hope to tomorrow. i'll let you know and post some photos from the magazine.

one step forward and two behind...

things have been kinda crazy around here with all the holiday stuff. friend's thanksgiving on thursday, jacqui's birthday last night and parent's thanksgiving on sunday. today seems to be my only day of rest, which i need desperately to catch up on homework. alas, i've spent the past 2 hours looking at blogs and doing nothing school related whatsoever.

sorry for the icky photo. in a big ol' hurry.

thrifted denim jacket, thrifted flannel, lavendar diy shredded tee, jbrand jeans, frye boots.

Apparently Brit's vaheen has inspired the likes of one of my favorite avant garde designers, margiella. if you haven't already checked this out you should. well worth it.

those now eating will soon be eaten...

hope all of your holidays went well. josh and i spent thanksgiving with friends at the bar.. We had planned on being in New York for the holiday but we just couldn't make it happen with work and school and all the things in between.

as i mentioned in the previous post shari and i went to the "god hates fags" counter protest. it was pretty amazing. there were four members from the westboro baptist church protesting and a couple hundred counter-protesters. what were they protesting you ask? Portland State University has decided to include gender and sexual orientation in their non-discrimination statues as well as introducing gender neutral restrooms to the campus. here are a few photos from the event.

protester. i believe she said she was the granddaughter of Fred Phelps himself.

counter protesters

favorite.

outfit updates. here is my turkey day outfit. nothing special since the day was pretty laid back.

thrifted jean jacket, shredded hanes black tee, american apparel cardigan, cheap monday jeans, striped socks, doc martens.

since i got those docs at the goodwill i've really been into the whole cuffed jeans and rad socks thing. kind of like this...

i'm gonna go berserk because...

thrifted cardigan, denim skirt from jessica, shirt from jessica, black flats from ??, necklace forever 21.

it has occurred to me that a fair amount of my clothes i get from my friends...otherwise known as jessica. she's got her own radical style and goes through clothes like crazy, thankfully for my closet :)

to love and to break into tears...

watched snakes on a plane last night...for the first time. it was pretty cool watching the documentaries in the special features. a lot was added and/or changed with the film in regard to things that were happening on the internet with fans. the movie had before it was made!! the interweb is a crazy place i say.

i'm still playing catch up on outfit posts. but it is that time of year whence i dive into the boyfriend's closet for new outfit ideas. last night i confiscated a great plaid button shirtup which i paired with black woolford tights and gray slouch boots. no photos of that yet as i forgot to download them today. hopefully i can get to them tomorrow.

what do you do with boy clothes?

t-shirt made by boyfriend, skirt from maya, shoes from maya. i ended up substituting the skirt for black cheap monday skinny jeans.

jen blogged not to too long ago about something that i had been thinking about. i've borrowed her image here because it articulates perfectly how lame these shoes are. i'll take diy any day over these. anyhow, check out her blog cause she's got a rad sense of humor and delicious style.

unlink the chain and you're ready

i can't get enough of these kenneth cole shoes!!! i just love them all over the place. i've been searching for outfits to wear to my big kid job. i would prefer not to purchase new clothes seeing that i have no money but most of my wardrobe is not office or professional worthy.

here is the new office!!! so exciting. hopefully we get to move in this weekend. it's been a long time coming.

thrifted blouse, men's vest from jessica, nudie jeans, thrifted kenneth cole boy's shoes

i love the sleeves on this shirt. they make me feel just a little girly.

I am destined to burn in your cage

some have e-mailed me asking if i would post outfit photos. i have to admit this is both shocking and flattering. i like clothes. i like to look at clothes other people wear, but i myself am not as fashionable as some of you may think. i've said it before i live in jeans and t-shirts. and it wasn't until kate lanphear came around that i thought this kind of look could be remotely fashionable. not that i can afford her wardrobe but i can certainly glean inspiration from it.

so here i give you an outfit post. funny that i'm not actually wearing jeans or pants for that matter.

american apparel dress, vest from jessica, woolford tights, thrifted kenneth cole boys shoes.

You Must Be A Witch

the entire time in both berlin and stockholm i encountered one pinball machine. one. it was in a heavy metal bar next to a pool table. all of the proceeds went to the local hell's angels club. the pinball machine wasn't even turned on.
